Art Deco Style Westminster Garrard 8 Day Walnut Mantel Clock
This delightful mantel clock is richly appointed in an attractive walnut case and features an 8 day movement, silvered dial and chrome bezel. Playing the classic Westminster chime, it can also be switched off if required. Garrard clocks are renowned for their high quality with engine turned finishes on the solid brass plates and proper steel pin and brass insert-bushed bearings. They have an excellent reputation for the fine quality of both their movements and cases. The Garrard Engineering & Manufacturing Company was founded by C.E. Newbigin and Major S.H. Garrard in 1915 to manufacture war effort materials such as bomb sights. At the end of World War I they changed to making clockwork motors for gramophones and then to clocks in 1931.
